Description: This piece is from a collector’s estate, who collected Native American jewelry and Art from 1960-2000’s. It is preowned and in excellent condition.
Vernon Haskie was born 1968 and is a member of the Navajo Native American Tribe and reservation who currently resides in Lukachukai, Arizona. Vernon’s parent’s (Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Haskie) were silversmiths as well raising their family through their arts which exposed Vernon to the likes of learning this craft but he did not make it an immediate career as he attended the now Dine’ Community College (formally known as Navajo Community College) eventually transferring to the University of New Mexico and obtaining a degree in Biology in 1996. A couple of years later, he started his Full Time Silversmithing career in 1998 which was only the beginning to the numerous highly achieved awards from many well known Indian Markets. His items are now home to many private collections throughout the world. The Navajo Traditional Ways and significant pillars make their way into his art honoring the Navajo Tradition as well as branching off using precious stones such as Opals and Diamonds to name a few. These two worlds beautifully create his unique and unmatched staples in the Fine Native American Jewelry world.
