This piece is made by Navajo artist, David John. As a young boy, David was close to grandfather who was a Medicine Man. His grandfather taught him the Navajo Creation Story, which entails the Yei Bi Chei's (Holy People) and are prominent figures in his work.
These ceramic masks are beautifully made with exquisite detail. David is an award-winning artist (Santa Fe Indian Market, Heard Museum, etc) and it is an honor to carry his work.
